Research & Resources
There are a great many areas associated with treasure hunting that require research. We shall attempt to provide some guidelines to help one understand the complexities associated with effective and successful quests.
The most basic of all questions associated with a project are what, where, who, when and how. These come into play after you have decided your goal(s) or objective(s).
What? Clearly define your objectives and goals. What are you going after and what else could possibly be added. What is the history associated with the target. Separate fact from fiction but include both in your research.
Where? Where is this to occur? Acquire maps, historical data regarding the target site, the location to search, the climate and weather history, the demography and development of the site area.
Who? Who is involved and clearly define the interest and participation of each party. Do it writing as to avoid any confusion later. Many quests have been all but destroyed due to this simple problem. Clearly define what roll each party has and its potential and value associated with the quest.
When? Clearly define a schedule of events. This schedule should include weather, local activities and events that may effect your quest. Climate is more often than not an important factor that effect vegetation growth, ground cover and comfort.
How? Transportation, finances, accommodations, food, water and equipment are all critical to the success of the quest.
